TITLE: STAGE MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT

SALARY: $16.50 per hour
Overall Responsibility: Assist the Stage Management Team with the running rehearsals and performances of each assigned production.
REPORTS TO: Production Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Producer, Production Manager

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
Assist the AEA Stage Management team and Stage Management Production Assistant with the running and storage of properties during rehearsals and performances of each assigned production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend all rehearsals and performances for assigned productions.
- Assist the Stage Management team with setting up, organizing and maintaining the rehearsal rooms.
- Set up and strike necessary props and scenery during rehearsals and performances.
- Take detailed notes of any issues with the props or scenery and notify the Stage Management team.
- Maintain proper storage and cleanliness of all props and scenery during and after every rehearsal and performance.
- Assist the Stage Management team during changeovers and strike.
- During performances, act as a member of the run crew.
- Execute props and scenery shifts smoothly and safely during rehearsals and performances..
- Ensure all props and scenery are returned to the appropriate place at the end of rehearsals and performances, and during changeovers and strikes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous professional backstage experience in theatre preferred.
- Neat and legible handwriting.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, efficiency, multi-tasking, and ability to prioritize and self-motivate.
- Possess a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction and see a task out to completion.
- Ability to work both independently and as a positive team member.
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative attitude.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to hear verbal notes and record them on paper.
- Frequently required to reach and bend.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to the height of 3 to 4 feet.
- Ability to work and move in dimly lit areas.
- Regularly required to sit, talk, see, and hear.
