Overall Responsibility
Facilitate the preparation, construction, and implementation of the costume craft designs for all productions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure costumes notes are completed accurately in accordance with deadlines such as fittings, dress rehearsals, and performances.
- Modify and/or build items needed for productions, including but not limited to hats, jewelry, armor, shoes, belts, assorted leather goods, masks, crowns, and specialty wigs.
- Dye, paint, and distress fabrics and costumes.
- Measure and record dye pigments and ingredients when dying costumes.
- Oversee Crafts Artisans workflow, progress, and quality.
- Instruct and supervise Crafts Artisans on the proper execution of tasks.
- Ability to teach new or different crafting techniques to Crafts Artisans and Interns when needed.
- Prepare and distribute costume crafts notes to the Crafts Artisans based on priority and ability.
- Perform other responsibilities as appointed by the Costume Director.
Qualifications
- Experience in all areas of costume crafts, including-but not limited to-millinery, leatherwork, jewelry, and shoe repair.
- Competence in hand sewing and use of sewing machine.
- Strong working knowledge of paints, solvents, adhesives, dyes, fabric treatments, and fabric composition.
- Ability to take notes from the artistic team and implement necessary changes.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.
- Demonstrated experience in personnel workflow and time management.
- Working knowledge of safety standards and implementation.
- Ability to set a standard of excellence and inspire a sense of group responsibility among team members.
- Ability to plan and anticipate potential setbacks.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Possess a strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, efficiency, multi-tasking, and ability to prioritize and self-motivate.

- Ability to give clear directions, encourage questions, and answer them with patience and clarity when working with staff, interns and/or volunteers.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain in a stationery position for long periods of time.
- Frequently required to use repetitive hand motions and to reach and bend.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to the height of 3-5 feet.
- Ability to fit with and wear a respirator when necessary.
- Regularly required to sit, talk, see, and hear.
